Don't there lie there lurking behind your troubled walls.

Listened again to this album today, this time on the subway ride into work.
Lots of Jesus & Mary Chain action happening here.
Along with some 70's country/singer-songwriter stuff.
This album really surprised me and is one of my favorites of the year so far.
Makes me want to get into a big American car and hit the road for awhile.

My bed's too big for just me.

Bailey had a really traumatic bike accident this past weekend and it was fucking scary.
Instead of telling about it, all I want to say for now is that I am so happy that she's OK.
I love this gal.

This new jam from the side project of Rostam (Vampire Weekend) and Wes (Ra Ra Riot) goes out to her:

You and me are the new twin of myself.

Song of the day.
Reminds of the first time I heard Air.
So 1998 all over again.
I'm cool with that.

This past weekend I packed it in and headed upstate with Bailey.
Really hit the spot.
Needed to get out of the NYC urban jungle for a little reprieve.
Reminded me of Oregon up there.

Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity, Empty Space and Points of Light, Giant Spotted Squash, Outmoded Formats of Sound Archiving, some Scottish singing about the French Navy.

It's closing soon, so this afternoon I quickly scooted over to see Yayoi Kusama's light installation at the Gagosian Gallery.
The staff only allowed a minute or so inside, which was a bummer as I wanted to and could stay in there for hours.
It was beautiful. Simply beautiful.
Made me get quiet and joyous and reflective.
Highly recommend you check it out before it's gone.

Yesterday, my good pal, Buzzy from Domino sent me the new Dirty Projectors album in cassette format.
Includes a mp3 download coupon.
How rad is that?
Makes three albums of recent that I've gotten on cassette, including J Dilla and Spankrock.
I love outmoded things.
Make me feel like the world is going to be alright.

And tonight, I'll be heading to see Camera Obscura at Webster Hall.
The last time I saw them play in Portland, they were a blast.
Should be fun.

Look at me, is this the way I've always been?

It's been raining more or less nonstop here and summer hasn't really started yet.
So I'm just pretending I'm back in Portland and been riding my bike in the rain, especially as I'm trying to help Andrew train for his Iowa ride.
Shout out to Brooklyn Bike & Board for keeping this baby in tune.

Plus, to help keep summery spirits up, I've been listening a ton to the new Passion Pit album, which is cheery as all get out.
