Out there somewhere is the finish line.

Had a really nice summery weekend in Brooklyn.
Went and looked at potential new apartments, had brunch at Maggie Brown,
found a cafe (Sit & Wonder) nearby that sells Stumptown coffee,
met Andrew in Kensington for some hummus at Mimi's, went for a bike ride,
read some Harry Potter Order Of The Phoenix (just brushing up for the new movie)
and checked out the Afro Punk Festival block party.
All in all, a lovely time was had.

Also, just started to get into the new album from Fanfarlo.
Get ready, as I have a feeling we're going to be hearing a lot about them.
This is my favorite track so far:

Don't there lie there lurking behind your troubled walls.

Listened again to this album today, this time on the subway ride into work.
Lots of Jesus & Mary Chain action happening here.
Along with some 70's country/singer-songwriter stuff.
This album really surprised me and is one of my favorites of the year so far.
Makes me want to get into a big American car and hit the road for awhile.

My bed's too big for just me.

Bailey had a really traumatic bike accident this past weekend and it was fucking scary.
Instead of telling about it, all I want to say for now is that I am so happy that she's OK.
I love this gal.

This new jam from the side project of Rostam (Vampire Weekend) and Wes (Ra Ra Riot) goes out to her:

You and me are the new twin of myself.

Song of the day.
Reminds of the first time I heard Air.
So 1998 all over again.
I'm cool with that.

This past weekend I packed it in and headed upstate with Bailey.
Really hit the spot.
Needed to get out of the NYC urban jungle for a little reprieve.
Reminded me of Oregon up there.

Look at me, is this the way I've always been?

It's been raining more or less nonstop here and summer hasn't really started yet.
So I'm just pretending I'm back in Portland and been riding my bike in the rain, especially as I'm trying to help Andrew train for his Iowa ride.
Shout out to Brooklyn Bike & Board for keeping this baby in tune.

Plus, to help keep summery spirits up, I've been listening a ton to the new Passion Pit album, which is cheery as all get out.

Outside, it's a rising sun. But we ain't got no time for it.

Went to go visit friends over at VICE today.
Included a nice lunch with Jamie, who runs the show at their record label,
a cat that climbed on the restaurant tables,
french fries, a woman playing singing saw at the Union Square subway stop
and a armful of music/print goodies.
