A little about this blog: The idea when I decided to start up this blog came simply from my all-consuming love of music and the desire to share it friends and other fans of music. Though I may post new music here, my intention isn't to simply participate in an echo chamber of music or aggregation, but rather to come at it with a strong point of view about music - my view: what is exciting to me, what I am obsessing about, what I unearth, discover or rediscover. Sometimes it is even just a way for me to document my life - to remember what a day consisted of, what I thought about, who and what I saw, how I was feeling. At the very least, I hope I might turn you onto something new, old, inspiring. And please share back with me anytime. A little about me: I am a music supervisor, DJ, director, musician, filmmaker, radio host, book publisher, independent record label owner, writer, journalist, artist, curator, futurist, photographer & producer. After living in Portland, Oregon where I worked as a Music Supervisor/Producer at Wieden + Kennedy for over 8½ years, I made the move to New York City in February 2009, where I was the Executive Music Producer at Young & Rubicam for nearly two years, before I moved again to Chicago to become the Executive Producer of Music & Creative Integration at DDB, where I am now currently working. Though my background and current status is truly rooted as an independent artist, I’ve now spent over 11½ years in the advertising industry working with such clients as Nike, Coke, Honda, Nokia, Target, ESPN, Bacardi, Budweiser, McDonald's, Gatorade, Land Rover, NASCAR, Diet Coke, NHL, Starbucks, LG, MTV, VH1, State Farm, Oreo, EA Games, Honda, Sharp, Amazon, PowerAde, Avon, Orange, Vodaphone, REI, Campbell’s, Colgate, Office Depot, Fisher Price, UPS, Bayer, Dell, etc. In the past, I have been a music supervisor on such projects as Nike SB’s first-ever skateboard movie, Nothing But The Truth, the high school football documentary TV series for Cellular South, Head To Head, the indie film, The Auteur, the surf movie, Chasing Waves and the feature-length documentaries Helvetica and its’ follow-up, Objectified. I have also directed music videos for M. Ward, Cursive and Chin Up Chin Up, as well as TV commercials for Nike. With my bands and as a DJ, I have performed nationally and internationally, including San Francisco’s MOMA, Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, PICA’s TBA Festival 2004 & 2005, CMJ Festival 2008, Flux Event at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, MusicfestNW, Paris’ radio station, Radio Nova, ‘boards Awards 2009 and Barcelona’s electronic music festival, Sonar. My work has been featured in/on MTV2’s Subterranean, CannesALSO, CNN Headline News’ “Paste Magazine’s Picks”, Rollingstone.com, Pitchfork, AOL’s Spinner.com, Country Music Television, FuseTV, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Plexifilm.com, Much Music, at London’s Antenna Festival, the Dublab Film Series/A Labrat Matinee, the San Francisco Film Society Second Annual International Animation Festival, at the 2007 L.A. Film Festival, the NYC Polaroid Party 2009, in Shots magazine/New Directors, the One Show 2003, the One Show 2010, Stash DVD magazine, Tokion, Flaunt, URB, Wallpaper, SOMA, Bomb, RES, Black Book, WIRE, Alternative Press, and on John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show. I currently live in Chicago, play in the bands, Pulseprogamming and Riddenpaa, cooperate the independent Portland record label, Fryk Beat, and DJ in the NYC/LA crew, Silent Knights. Always in the process of making some other magical things happen. Inquire within.
