Theme for snowflakes and bells.

Just finally catching up with the Feeling Today EP from the band, Botany, that was released a few months ago on Western Vinyl.
Reminds me at times of mid-90's Mo' Wax stuff, along with early 2000's IDM.
Perfect winter weather music to make you feel cozy.
The whole EP is awesome.
Really digging it.

You don't believe in superstition.

I absolutely love Here We Go Magic's last album, so it was with some disappointment that I found myself having a harder time getting into their most recent one called Pigeons.
What really happens though is that this one is trickier to reveal itself, so give it some time, as it'll pull through for you.
Now I absolutely love it.

Check out this track where they fall into a lovely Neu! hook:

We'll find each other where we promise.

He definitely revolves near the worlds of Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens, but J Tillman is truly his own deal.
His newest album on Western Vinyl, Year In The Kingdom, is a lovely, sad, inspiring folk-y adventure.

He's playing here at the Bell House on Nov. 16th.
I'll be there and I'd venture to say you may want to be as well.

Also, on a sad note, Bailey's cat, Max, passed away this weekend.
He was a really sweet fella and his snuggling ways really won me over.
I'm now a dog and cat person.
Miss you Max.
Hope you're chasing mice in Cat Heaven.

What's the use in dying, dying, if I don't know when.

It's my dad's birthday today.

He turned 65 and according to a telephone conversation with my mom,
apparently he has flown down to Florida for a fraternity reunion event of sorts.
Tried to reach him on his cell phone, but no luck.
He's not one for that kind of technology.
Was hoping I'd get through to him though.
Miss that man.

And last night I dreamt of being back in Los Angeles, driving around.
I actually miss that city, though I lived there so shortly.
I think my body is having a slightly hard time adjusting to the colder weather and really craving light.
Perhaps partially due to the fact that I am working in an office most of the day, save for breaks, and finishing up every day when it is dark outside.
Can't wait for spring.

Listening to this album by Here We Go Magic right now.
Amazing stuff.
Right tone for the day.
Kind of melancholic, yet oddly hopeful.
In this track, his voice reminds me of Paul Simon's a bit.

Also, saw School Of Seven Bells last night at Le Poisson Rouge and got to see my old pal, Sam Ghostly. Good times.
