I said nothing and then nothing and then you said. [Imaginary Soundtracks #2]

Haven't done this series in awhile (since I basically started it), but I was listening to Stina Nordenstam's "This Is" album today and remembered how much I love this particular song.
Sounds a bit like Brian Eno "Here Come The Warm Jets" era.
Would love to see this one in a film.
Enjoy.

Weekends are never fun unless you're around here too.

So now that I'm in Chicago, I'm super interested in discovering what's happening here in the music scene these days.
One of the first bands I've come across is the Smith Westerns who've just released their newest album Dye It Blonde on Fat Possum Records.
Liking what I'm hearing so far from the youngsters in this town.

Have a great weekend everyone.
Go Packers!!!

I've got a feeling and the feeling is new/you.

The Packers won Sunday and are heading to the Superbowl. So I think it's time for some happy/celebratory music and the upcoming Go! Team album is doing just the trick.
It's a really fun mix of vintage Go! Team updated with a tad Belle & Sebastian/Camera Obscura and a wee bit of the Avalanches.
The whole album is really solid, super catchy and upbeat.
Check out this track that's sure to be a hit single.

I Found You Dreaming.

Future Islands' album from last year will definitely be making into my Top Album list, so I think it is only apropos that they start out the new year with such a super solid release. Check out this track from their new Undressed EP, which is awesome, start to finish. Love this band.

If I held my breath in the morning, would I wake up in the new light?

As I'm still putting together my top album list of 2010,
I've been combing through everything to make sure that I haven't missed something.
And sure enough I had.
Ryan Bingham's alt-country album is one that I missed out on and have only recently discovered,
so I want to call some attention to it now.
Check out this heartbreaker:

Back in the new year arms of a wintry homeland.

Well, it's official.
I'm back in the midwest, my old homeland and living in Chicago.
It's cold as heck but the people here in general and my good friends in particular are keeping me warm.
Since I've been hectic with the move and my new job, I'm still in process of putting together my top list of 2010, which should be posted shortly.
In the meantime, I want to share a new jem from STRFKR (i.e. Starfucker) that should prove to be a fave of 2011.
Enjoy.

Between your bed and mine, between your head and my mind.

In honor of the winter solstice, I wanted to share one of my personal all-time favorite winter themed songs.
Both the original and the best-ever cover version.
